My Selection Post1

Technically, I really didn't want to read this book this was like my fourth choice or not my choice at all. lol. I didn't want to read it because it was really long and their word print is a size 3 or something. But then again what book isn't gonna be long, right? The book is called Fast Food Nations and the author is Eric Schlosser who is an investigative journalist. It was written in 2001 and is about the local and global influence of the United States fast food industry. When I first got the book I read the introduction because I figured it would give me a good idea of what the book is going to be about. The introduction starts off with Eric talking about nature of American society and about the mountains and valleys. Just reading it doesn't sound like its going to be about fast food but that was a scene of where he grew up in. Thats where his fast food industry started. He began in the meat packing industry and then McDonalds. It sounds pretty boring to me though because just throughout the whole book its going to be talking about fast food, fast food, and more fast food. Even if it shows out the effects and maybe even the goods of fast food places, its still about FAST FOOD! When I was doing research for the book it basically just gave a summary about the whole book and what nt and I decided not to read it because it will just spoil the whole thing for me. There is no quote that the author came up himself but there is a quote that I think inspired him to write this book and it also starts off the book before the introduction. It is, "A savage servility slides by on grease," by Robert Lowell who is a poet and the founder of the confessional poetry movement. This book takes place in a farm at first and then expands to industries in the city. Probably the only part so far int he story that drew me to it was the intro because it was pretty much laid out about what the book is about and a little bit of how it effects us now and what not.

  1. Sorry to hear you didn't get your first choice in books. But I'm glad to hear that you're stepping up to the challenge of taking on a book that's at a higher level of rigor.

This post helps us understand who you are as a reader and also gives us some background about what the book is going to be about.

I would recommend giving more shape to your writing. Dividing your ideas with paragraphs helps your reader move through your writing more easily.
