Connective Timed Writing Post1

Quotation "They perfected the art of selling things to children," page 33

Why should we fall for fast food advertisements? It just pursuades us into wanting crap. They start to sell t-shirts, pants, dolls, robes, mouse pads, lunch boxes, etc. It makes us interested but for what? The whole concept of it doesn't make sense. On page thirty-one and thirty-two, it talks about about how they just advertise all these things just to be on top of the pyramid as in to be the best and in some cases it is working and in others it is not.
Why should we give our money to something that isn't worth it? First of all its not healthy. Second some people just like the buisness because of the stuff that they sell that is everything except their food. They come up with these crazy, random characters to represent their company to get children to be interested, but most kids are actually scared of the characters.
Why should we even care about fast food especially at this time? We should actually be using all the fast food places to create places that are actually healthier to eat. Have you seen our society? Yea its not looking that good, AT ALL. We have people getting bigger and bigger by the second. Its not a bad thing but don't you want our society to be looking good in shape? Yea thought so.
But as I said in my other connective writing our economy is going so bad as for money that we have no other place to eat except these fast food places. Even when you go to the grocery store, you can buy atleast 10 doughnuts or a little bag of salad. Which would you pick? Some stuff just doesn't make any sense at all in our society anymore.

  1. Kayla,

You make a great point about how advertisements are used to influence kids. I think Schlosser talks about how Ronald McDonald is one of the most recognized characters that kids are able to identify.
You also make a great connection between the state of the economy and the types of decisions we're making as consumers.
You might want to talk a little more specifically about what you're seeing in the text. Your post is a little short as well.
