Gold Post #2- Best Timed Writing

“America’s main streets and malls now boast the same Pizza Huts, Taco Bells, Gaps and Banana republics...” (pg. 5)

This quote and book in general reminds me of listening to The Savage Nation radio station with Dr. Michael Savage, because of the factual and biographic writing style by Carl N. Karcher. It also reminds me of the movies that we watched in P.E. last year about fast food companies and history. Movies such as “Supersize Me” and “Food Inc.”. The movies were all about fast food and factual based background information including facts, percentages, ratios and much more.

The book’s connection to “The Savage Nation” is through of which Michael Savage often speaks out about America’s fast food industries and the economical ties to society, government, businesses and such. Savage includes both positive and negative factors of these such companies.

Fast Food Nation begins by telling the background story of Carl Karcher; starting as a farmer boy who dropped out of school to work full time on the farm until he had enough money to buy his own hotdog stand as his first means of food business.

The book mostly focuses on fast food’s facts and history with small and big business and franchises. It as well includes how the human diet has changed more over the past 40 years then it has in the past 40,000 years or so.

What’s behind the shiny foil; What’s in between those two seeded buns- for real? Facts, number, opinions, truth, details, experiences, life stories, history and much more! Fast Food Nation’s information connects with many daily things we all listen to and learn about.
